The United Kingdom government intends to digitize the immigration process by April 2025. Foreign visitors, excluding British and Irish nationals, will be required to obtain an ETA (electronic travel authorization) prior to traveling to the UK. Individuals holding a UK visa must also apply for an eVisa. The ETA fee is £10, and it will permit multiple entries to the UK for a period of 6 months within a 2- year timeframe or until passport expiration. Commencing on November 27, 2024, non-EU residents will be able to apply
for an e-visa to travel after January 8, 2025.
The UK has initiated a significant campaign encouraging immigrants, including Indian nationals possessing a physical immigration document, to transition to eVisas. Individuals with a physical BRP, passport bearing an ink stamp or visa sticker, or BRC will be transitioned to an online system from 2025 onwards.
